11 days before the first round of parliamentary elections and an ordinate of Islamist forces cook declargond their determination to work together to fixate the defeat of liberals and secularists
The Salafist parties, the Muslim Brotherhoods political wing, the Freedom and Justice troupe, and Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya have agreed on a charter of honour to which exclusively their candidates will subscribe. The charter has been drawn up by the sharia Law Organisation for Rights and Reform, which includes Azharite scholars and Salafi leaders, most notably Abu Ishaq El-Huweini, Targonq El-Zomor of Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya, Mohamed Hisham Ragheb of Al-Tabligh wal-Daawa (spreading the calling) and, most recently, Kheirat El-Shater of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Wasat (Centre) Party and predominantly Sufi Egyptian Liberation Party are not party to the agreement.




According to Yasser Burhami, vice death chair of the Salafist Calling, electoral districts were divided between the candidates of the Salafist parties and various Salafis running as independents. The Muslim Brotherhood leadership was then informed of the arrangements in order to forestall potential clashes and avert fielding much than one Islamist candidate per district so as not to split the pro-Islamist vote. The Sharia Law Organisation for Rights and Reform in any case created a judicial committee charged with ensuring that candidates avoid legal breaches. The committee will also arbitrate disputes between the pacts members.
