Not So SuperBad

Sweetly absurd, Crude and awkward, Superbad is almost a typical teen movie, reminding me a bit of the American Pie films because of the round-eyed plot and juvenile humour. However, compared to other teen movies the film is more than more intelligently written than others of its genre, and this shines through in the tempers. Superbad follows ternary high school seniors as they go on a long night of self-discovery, ending in drunken declarations of eff between best friends with unrealistic yet entertaining events natural event in between. The over weight Seth, played by jinx Hill (Knocked Up) is foul-mouthed and impulsive, Evan, his best friend, played by Michael Cera is a more gentle and shy, almost to the point of being invisible, character who is dominated by Seth in some ways. Theirs is a highly interdependent friendship. Though the character I entangle was one of the best things in Superbad is the almost impossibly well-cast Fogell (Christopher Mints-Plasse), the attribute geek responsible for the worst fake ID ever.

Though the trine of them are clearly unpopular, they refuse to admit it, especially Seth, who believes he has a chance with Jules, one of the most popular girls in the school.

So when Seth and Evan get unexpectedly invited to Jules big raging party they see the event as their chance to hurt their lingering virginity. Seth, who wants to make Jules his girlfriend for the summer tries to impress her by volunteering to get alcohol for her party.
