Miss Emily Grierson, the main character in William Faulkners short story A Rose for Emily, is sure enough strange to some readers. The events of the story that take place during the genteel War leave the reader to believe that Miss Emily is hence insane. Certain behaviors that were portrayed by Miss Emily were weird and unmatched to the reader, but to her it was completely normal. The reasons for her weird behavior are because she is insane, her beget was overprotective of her, and she needed love that was never given to her.
The first base reason for Miss Emilys behavior is that she is insane. She did certain things that march that she indeed had a medical illness. After her father died she unploughed the body. Also, she murdered her boyfriend, mark Barron, and continued to sleep with the body for hum whatever years after his death.
The second reason for Miss Emilys behavior is that her father was very overprotective of her. In the story, the townspeople said, we remembered all the young men her father had driven absent (93). The father would not allow Miss Emily to be in a relationship. This led to her organism lonely. He was the only man in her life, but when he died she did not show any grief at all. Maybe she was holding a aversion against him for not letting her date.
The third reason for Miss Emilys behavior is that she wanted love that was never given to her. When she got into a relationship with Homer Barron she was hoping to be loved by him. However, Homer said himself that he was not the marrying type (94). When she killed him she did it with the intent of being able to sleep with him and he wasnt able to disown her.
As we see, there were many reasons why Miss Emilys behavior was the way it was. Such as, she is insane, her father was overprotective of her, and she was pursuit and wanting a love that was never given to her.
